Mowser is a free online service that optimizes the design of standard web pages so they look good when viewed on a mobile phone. The same service is also recommended for desktop browsers especially those who are on a slow connection or behind a restricted firewall.
Unfortunately, Mowser is closing shop because there aren’t enough users and lack of eyeballs (advertising dollars) has made it increasingly difficult for founder Russell Beattie to continue running the service.
It’s sad to see good things perish but if you are an existing user of Mowser and looking for alternates, consider moving to Google Transcoder.
Like Mowser, Google Transcoding service will also reformat the content of regular websites into a more mobile friendly format. You may chose to display the web page with or without images.
To give this service a shot, go to google.com/gwt/n and type the address of any website. Here’s a live example - the labnol website adapted for mobile phones.
