Orkut is already quite popular in India and Google has take another good step to bring in non-English users to the online community.
Like Blogger, you can how scrap your Orkut friends in Hindi using the English keyboard. As you type Roman (English) alphabets in the scrapbook, these words are automatically converted to Hindi.
Orkut uses Unicode to encode the Hindi characters in your scrap.
This feature requires a live internet connection, as all the transliteration is done on Google’s servers and sent back to your browser while you work on your scrap.
This English to Hindi transliteration feature (not translation) attempts to accurately match the sounds of the letters between the two alphabets. If you find that it’s incorrect, however, you can fix it. Link.
